CHINQUAPIN - Mr. Brown passed away peacefully on Wednesday.  Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday from St. Lewis Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Stokes Family Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents, Malton and Geneva Stokes Brown; his wife, Julia Dean Maddox Brown, brother, Hubbard and  sister, Betty. TEACHEY - Mrs. Hobbs, age 106, passed away on Thursday, January 24. Funeral service will be held from Peter's Tabernacle Baptist Church of Wallace on Monday at 1:00 PM.  Interment will follow at Duplin Memorial Garden. Mrs. Hobbs was born April 24, 1912 to the late Romie and Elizabeth Usher Underwood.  The family will receive friends at Matthews Funeral Chapel on Sunday from 5:00-6:00 PM; other times at the home.      

WALLACE - Mrs. Christine Hill Smith, widow of Robert Smith, passed away on Friday at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.  Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday from Adoram Baptist Church.  Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation at Matthews Funeral Service on Friday from 5:00-7:00 PM.

Mr. Highsmith passed away on Wednesday, January 9, in Kenansville.  Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January16, at Duplin Memorial Gardens.

BEULAVILLE - Mr. Jones passed away on Friday.  Funeral service will be held from Matthews Funeral Chapel  at 12:00 noon on Monday..
